Teambuilding via Tenner for Tickets

Two cross-IRR groups made use of the Tenner for Tickets scheme to foster and build new relationships within the IRR to enhance connections and culture.

Game 1

The Emmerson lab (CRM, plus members from CIR and CRH) enjoyed a trip to Murrayfield Ice Rink to watch the first Ice Hockey Cup game between Team USA and Team Canada, with support from IRR’s initiative Tenners for Tickets. We even got to meet the Canadian mascot and celebrated Canada’s win!

Game 2

We were given a £10 discount per person to attend an international ice hockey match between the USA and Canada. Nine of us from six different groups went from IRR for a fun team building activity. The event offered a dynamic and engaging sporting experience, allowing participants to observe high-level competition, teamwork, and strategy in practice. The match itself was closely contested, with Canada securing a last-minute victory, which created a strong sense of suspense and excitement among spectators. This outcome was especially appreciated by our Canadian colleagues. For several attendees, this was their first experience of an ice hockey match, and the subsidised cost made participation more accessible. The lively atmosphere and shared nature of the experience contributed to positive social interaction, helping us to connect and engage with one another. Overall, it was a very fun evening!!
