MicroTex

MicroTex is a Research and Partnership Hub developing advanced technologies for intra-target microdosing, which allows scientists to test multiple drugs at very small doses directly to the affected tissue.

This provides early insight into how drugs act, helping to inform decisions and advance the drug development pipeline and allows for scientists to focus resources on the most promising treatments.

Initially, MicroTex is focusing on two target areas, inflammation in the distal lung, and microbial keratitis, corneal infections of the eye and a leading cause of blindness worldwide.

The aim is to develop technologies which can help identify and develop drugs more effectively and efficiently, helping to bring new treatment to patients all over the world.

Based at The University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Regeneration and Repair, within the Baillie Gifford Pandemic Science Hub, MicroTex is a collaboration involving engineers, scientists and clinicians from The University of Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt University and University of Bath.
