Edinburgh Skin Network Symposium The Ed-SKIN Steering Committee is delighted to announce that abstract submissions are now open for the first Edinburgh Skin Network (Ed-SKIN) Symposium. The symposium will bring together a wide range of researchers who have an interest in skin science, engineering and clinical practice, in an interdisciplinary development and networking event. The symposium will take place in-person on Thursday 8th June 2023 at the Playfair Library and will be followed by a drinks reception at the Royal College of Physicians, where we will be able to explore their exhibit "Skin - a layered history". We have a great line up of invited speakers including Dr Ben Almquist (Imperial; hydrogel drug delivery systems for skin) Dr Rebecca Gentek (fetal-derived mast cells in skin development and melanoma), Dr James Glover (developmental basis of fingerprint pattern formation), Dr Lisa MacIntyre (compression garments for prevention and treatment of hypertrophic burn scars) We invite all PhD students and post-doctoral researchers working in the field of skin research to submit a <300 word abstract for the opportunity to give a poster presentation or short talk on their research. This is a great opportunity to showcase the incredible skin research being pursued in Edinburgh. Prizes are up for grabs for best poster and best short talk. Please email your abstracts to jenna.cash@ed.ac.uk and rose.daniels@ed.ac.uk . The deadline for abstract submission will be 5 pm April 28th. We welcome everyone at the University of Edinburgh, Heriot Watt University and NHS Lothian to attend, regardless of whether your current research activities contain a skin theme or not. Please note that this is an in-person only event. We are unable to provide online access to registrants. Also, this event has a maximum of 180 participants and registration may close prior to the deadline (Friday 1st June) if this maximum is reached.
