The 2nd Ed-SKIN Symposium was held on 12th November 2024 jointly with the SSBC. The symposium featured an exciting and broad programme, kicked off by Doctor Carole Torsney who detailed her groups work on postsurgical tactile-evoked pain. This was followed by Doctor Rose Ruiz-Daniels' Atlantic salmon skin wound atlas, whilst Doctor Denis Headon explored the genetic basis for variation in human hair shape. Professor Richard Weller provided compelling evidence for reconsidering our approach to sunlight with respect to health and skin cancer risk and Doctor Michael Crichton introduced us to the world of engineering with his group's work on developing technology for dermatology to digitise our senses. Doctor Jenna Cash (Chair of Ed-SKIN) discussed her group's work on charting the path to skin ulceration using spatial biology, whilst Professor Sara Brown explored genetic and ethnic differences in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. Doctor Kate Wright wrapped up the day by outlining her work on fibrosis in diabetic wound healing. ECR short talk prize winnerInvited speakers Doctor Rose Ruiz-Daniels (Stirling University) and Doctor Kate Wright (GCU) kindly acted as judges for the short talks and made the award to Doctor Oliver Teenan for his excellent talk on "Advancing early detection in systemic sclerosis: Skin proteome characterisation and development of a diagnostic index (SCIDEX)".
