CRH Seminar: Dr Clare MacRae Speaker: Dr Clare MacRae, Senior Clinical Research Fellow, Centre for Population Health Sciences, The Usher InstituteHost: James BoardmanTitle: Mechanistic understanding of early life determinants of multimorbidity in young adultsShort Bio: Clare is a GP and Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the Usher Institute. She recently completed her MRC Clinical Research Training Fellowship. Her PhD explored multimorbidity within households by applying quantitative methods to study electronic health records linked to the Wales Census. The MRC also funded her policy internship at the Academy of Medical Sciences, where she contributed to their work on child health. She previously trained in paediatrics and holds the MRCPCH.Summary of the talk: In her postdoctoral work, Clare is developing a research programme to understand how the physical environment, health behaviours, and social experiences from birth to four years of life are causally linked to multimorbidity in young adults. To achieve this, she plans to employ causal inference methods and conduct a meta-analysis across a range of UK birth cohort studies, comparing her results with a large Danish dataset.
