CIR seminar: Professor Kim Ravnskjær “Biological Heterogeneity in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis”Professor Kim Ravnskjær, Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, University of Southern DenmarkHost: Dr Carsten Hansen** please remember attendance at these seminars is compulsory for all students registered in the CIR as part of your continued development and educational training**Bio:Kim Ravnskjaer is an Associate Professor of Functional Genomics at the University of Southern Denmark and co-director of the Centre for Functional Genomics and Tissue Plasticity. His research is devoted to defining key determinants of tissue homeostasis and plasticity during the pathogenesis and regression of human cardiometabolic disease.A main focus of the Ravnskjaer lab is to understand how the liver microenvironment governs metabolism and cellular decision-making in chronic liver disease. His group integrates single-cell and spatially resolved omics with high-definition imaging to map cell behaviours and crosstalk that shape inflammatory dynamics and extracellular matrix turnover. Their most recent findings were published in Cell Metabolism and the Journal of Hepatology.Kim Ravnskjaer earned his PhD in biomedicine from the University of Southern Denmark in 2006. He did his postdoctoral training with Marc Montminy at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, where he worked as a senior scientist before returning to Denmark and establishing his independent programme in 2015. He has received several competitive fellowships and, most recently, an Ascending Investigator grant from the Novo Nordisk Foundation. He is an active mentor and reviewer and regularly contributes to international scientific meetings.CIR student meet the speaker session following the seminar at 1pm. If you would like to attend the student session, lunch provided, please contact Marcin Maniak m.k.maniak@sms.ed.ac.uk advising if you have any food allergies/dietary requirements. May 20 2026 12.00 - 13.00 CIR seminar: Professor Kim Ravnskjær “Biological Heterogeneity in Metabolic Dysfunction-Associated Steatohepatitis”
